Use | 3-trimethylsilylpropionic acid is a carboxylic acid. Carboxylic acids are important organic compounds, which are widely used in industry, agriculture, medicine and people's daily life. The oxidation of alcohols to acids is a fundamental and important chemical reaction in organic chemistry. In the industrial and pharmaceutical fields, the production of carboxylic acids is often obtained by oxidation. |
preparation | add Fe(NO3)3 · 9H2O(40.5mg,0.1mmol) to a ML round-bottom bottle and DCE(4.0mL), followed by the addition of TEMPO(15.7mg,0.1mmol),KCl(7.8mg,0.1mmol), 3-trimethylsilylpropargyl alcohol (128.6mg,1.0mmol) and DCE(1.0). The round-bottom bottle is connected to the Air Balloon via a suction valve. The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 48 h until completion of the reaction as monitored by TLC (petroleum ether: ethyl acetate = 5:1). The reaction mixture was filtered through a short column of crude silica gel and rinsed with diethyl ether (75ml). After vacuum spin dry solvent, silica gel column chromatography (petroleum ether: ethyl acetate = 5:1) was purified to obtain 3-trimethylsilylpropiolic acid (92.9mg,65%)(petroleum ether: ethyl acetate = 5:1): 1). |
